About Cobban

A New Community Named After a Milton Founder

Cobban is a master-planned residential community in south Milton, Ontario. Construction began in 2015 and continues today, with a long-term plan for roughly 6,000 homes and approximately 25,000 residents at full buildout.

The neighbourhood is named after Dr. James Cobban, one of Milton's three founders. In the 1830s, Dr. Cobban — alongside George Brown and schoolmaster Fell — chose the name "Milton" for the growing settlement, in honour of the English poet John Milton. So the neighbourhood ties directly back to the town's origin story.

Today's Cobban is a different kind of place — modern, family-focused, and built around the way people actually live now. Homes are post-2015 construction with open-concept layouts. Streets are designed for walkability and safety. The Milton Sports Centre is a few minutes away, and a higher-order transit corridor is planned for the south end of the community.
